St. Louis Homeschool Expo

Shortcut 2 Learning would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make the St. Louis Homeschool Expo a great success. We answered a lot of questions about Shortcut! Computer Basics and met a lot of very friendly people. I especially enjoyed watching people's reactions to some of the false answers (questions are mutltiple choice) since they were designed to be entertaining. Based on the laughter these false answers have clearly succeeded. We also have a new reseller in the St. Louis area. You can check them out at StLHomeSchoolResources.com

We would also like to say a big thank you to our friends in St. Louis who made our stay very enjoyable. Thanks to their help and hospitality the whole weekend went very smooth.

In addition to having Shortcut! on display we also had a copy of c-jump. C-jump is a board game to teach the fundamentals of computer programming. I had the opportunity to play this game several times with different attendees at the convention. A lot of visitors mistakenly thought it was a math game based on all the equations on the game board. Which, I discovered purely by accident, that children as young as 4 can practice basic math even if they don't understand the programming concepts demonstrated in the game. The game is actually designed for ages 11+. You can read more about the c-jump board game at c-jump.com.

Midwest Parent Educators Conference and Curriculum Fair

Shortcut 2 Learning would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make the Kansas City Expo a great success. We had fun meeting lots of new people and answering questions about the game. Maybe not as much fun as the kids with the robots a little further down the same aisle but a good time none-the-less.

We would also like to say a big thank you to our friends in Kansas City who filled us up on lasagna and other delicious meals. Thanks to their hospitality the weekend was a very nice experience.

We had a little more booth space at this convention and was therefore able to setup two tables for playing games. Shortcut! Computer Basics was setup on one table and C-Jump on the other. We were very pleased to see several children stop by and play the game and even more pleased to see them learning and having fun at the same time. If you missed us in Kansas City don't worry. We'll be in our hometown of Springfield, MO this coming weekend with both games on display.

You Set the Price!

Shortcut 2 Learning wanted to do something special for the homeschool convention here in our hometown of Springfield, MO. So instead of just offering a discount on the game for the convention we let attendees set their own price. I think a few people didn't believe it when the offer was explained. Grab an envelope, set your price, put it in the envelope and insert it into the donation box for a copy of Shortcut! Computer Basics.

Speaking of the donation box... Have a close look and you can see that the "donation box" is actually and old computer with the floppy drive removed to make the donation slot. The internal hard drive was also removed to allow the envelopes to drop down inside.

The picture to the right with the side cover off and all the envelopes inside shows just how many people were able to accept this great offer and leave the convention with a great new educational tool. We are grateful for everyone who made a donation to obtain a board game. We especially liked the nice note that one attendee wrote on the outside of their envelope posted to the right. So to whoever wrote this note we would like to say, "you are very welcome".
